oh and about the shia part , yeah sunnis get freaked out by shias ! :P , ok but if you ever want to the know the theological difference I do not mind pointing it out , although I do not believe it as shiasm really does not make sense , one other point the reason why sunnis can not stand shias , is because shias hate the sahaba omar, abu bakr, and othman (ra) . I would not consider it bigotry , I would consider it ignorance as majority of shias are very clueless about their own beliefs.

Amal: Actually, from personal experience, I've found that most Sunnis don't really know the practical differences between Sunnism and Shiasm. They usually mention something about temporary marriage and Shias combining prayers, but that's it. I don't think most Sunnis actually care about the differences in their everyday lives. The bigot that told me he thought I was Shia was a convert, and I've found converts to be the most bigoted, intolerant, and fundamentalist Muslims (I'm basing this on personal experience). I'm not singling out converts, but I'm saying that to point out that most Muslims don't walk around bashing other sects and other religions when they have their own lives to worry about.

I've met very few people that really know the more important differences between the sects. I myself didn't know most of these until recently. And to be fair, most Muslims and people that practice any religion in general are very clueless about their own beliefs. We usually just practice what we grew up with. How many Muslims actually understand the first line of Surah Al-Fatihah, the Surah we have to use in every prayer? Or how many of us actually know where the "Five Pillars of Islam" came from? The Qur'an doesn't even hint at that. Or how many of us know why we pray the way we do? The vast majority of us just practice what we're taught and don't even ask where these practices come from. And if we ask, we're often treated like heretics as if we're questioning the validity of Islam when we're just looking for the answer. I myself have to admit that I know little about Islam like most Muslims, and I'm starting to look into the practices we're taught to believe are right and correct and the "only" way. Yeah, there are people that actually look into everything in detail, but that group is very small.

Habiba: It was the best Eid in years! I didn't know Muslims could be so fun.

You are right in what you are saying about converts , but also non converts they just often take on what they hear and read , but have not actually met shias , a lot of shias are shia becuase their born in to it , i contemplated a point in my life of leaving islam , if it is not the religion of truth , i did not want to be a muslim because mama and baba are .
just cos your born muslim , does not mean your muslim , dont just do something cos your born in to it , you have one life , check it out . Shias flipped at me with my questions I guess they did not have the answers , but im sick to death with sunnis and their little ideas about shia people which is often exagerrated . Then they think I am being bias just because my familly are shia , well no , because I know your talking nonsense , its sunnis like you that make others put off by you , by the way it exists the same with shias , shias always have their little cusses about sunnis .
