Land of beef, land of mullets

Mar 18th, 2007, 07:41 pm

A disappointingly high percentage of young men in Argentina sport mullets and rattails. A firm believer in the grotesqueness of these haircuts, I cannot help but cringe when I see preppy Argentine boys acting like they’re all that with those things flopping behind their heads. Still, I wonder if growing a mullet will help me win the hearts of Argentine women. I mean, why else would all these guys have such hideous hair?

Do my thoughts make me ethnocentric, or even worse, racist? I think not. Well, maybe a little of the former.

I think the mullet is coming back, or as some friends would say, it never died. When I went to Greece I saw quite a few people sporting the horrendous hairdo and was slightly disturbed, and mildly amused. You’re not being ethnocentric, the mullet has quite a bit of stigma attached to it, so its hard for us to approach it with an unbiased eye.

Hating mullets and rattails doesnt make you ethnocentric, it just makes you sane!

well i dunno why it would make you either racist or ethnocentric..a fashionista perhaps?

the picture on the wikipedia site made me laugh so hard because of the generations of macgyver fans in the indian subcontinent! ho ho ho!

still just watching old movies makes me laugh - we were all such fashion victims back then. or it just shows you ‘relative’ all this stuff is -back in the 80s i remember watching my sisters getting dressed up and thinking wow! now its cringe time when the old photos come out.

Kareem...Mona's Sister....Tennessee....yeah

Yeah, mullets are definitely a global phenomenon. I’ve seen plenty in Jordan and Syria. I just saw a guy an hour ago with the trifecta. Mullet, club/disco shirt, and some skin-tight pants.
